fleece.

Mary had a little lamb... and Fleece was her name! The sanctuary owner saw Mary tied to a rope in a pasture with her 3-week-old baby and convinced the owner to sell her to the sanctuary. Sometimes animal owners will not surrender their animals and we are forced to purchase them for meat prices if we want to help them get out of their miserable living situation. Such is the situation with Mary and Fleece. All our sheep are Katahdins, which is a “hair sheep” breed. Unlike most sheep breeds, these sheep do not need to be sheered because they shed their coats in chunks and strings. Because they look so messy and somewhat uncomfortable, we have them sheered anyway, with our alpacas, once a year.
