What’s on your summer reading list?
Join us for our first ever summer reading hour! We’ll read some of our founder’s stories about the animals in the sanctuary as well as other children’s favorites. Learn about Al the Alpaca or why Maddie Wants a Job.
After reading, the kids will be able to meet the animals in the sanctuary and even give them special treats!
There is a $10 per child donation, which includes a bucket of treats to feed the animals.
And, special appearance by Lightning and McQueen! OK, the goats, not the “Cars” characters, but they’re still stars! ;)

Ever wondered how the Sammamish Animal Sanctuary ended up in Renton? Or how to tell an Alpaca from a Llama? Or what all the female goat names have in common? Well, have we got the event for you!
Join us for a heartwarming evening at Sammamish Animal Sanctuary with our beloved founder, Diane Gockel. This exclusive event offers an intimate experience, where you'll enjoy light refreshments and a personal meet-and-greet with Diane, followed by a guided tour through the Sanctuary's beautiful grounds.
As you walk alongside Diane, you’ll hear touching, behind-the-scenes stories about the incredible animals we’ve rescued—each with a name, a journey, and a second chance at life. From horses and goats to pigs and cows, you'll get to meet our Sanctuary Residents up close and hear the inspiring mission that brought them home.
Whether you're a long-time supporter or new to our community, this is a rare and special opportunity to connect, learn, and be moved. We can't wait to share this magical evening with you.
