Amelia.

Amelia is the brown and white cow in the corner of the farm, near Frilly and one of the chicken coops. She was born at a farm that raised cattle for meat. She was found in her pasture many hours after her birth, laying on the ground with infections setting in as she was not able to get the nutrients she needed by nursing from her mom. Turns out, Amelia was a twin, which can be a problem for cows. Once found, she was given veterinarian care, but her infections caused her to be nearly blind with severe mobility issues that remain with her today. The owner could not keep her, so Sammamish Animal Sanctuary agreed to take over her care and give her a wonderful life here. We built her a shed and a pasture so she could be close to the other bovines, but not be in with them where she might get injured. Amelia is as sweet and gentle as she can be and is loved beyond words by many. Amelia made friends with two goats, and they were moved to be in her pasture with her! Their names are Dahlia and Camellia. She often wears a prosthetic hoof in order to help her walk and ease any pain. We have a book about Amelia’s journey, Amelia the Brave, available in our store or on Amazon, if you want to learn more about her!
